The 2018 Gulf States PGA E-Z-GO Section Championship was held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club on October 1 – 2 in Monroe, La. The field was comprised of forty-seven players, six of which were competing in the round one division only.
Greg Sonnier, of Lake Charles, La., and Emyln Aubrey, of Bossier City, La., fired opening rounds of five-under par, 67, to take the first round lead. Kyle Ramey, of Hattiesburg, Miss., shot four-under par, 68.
After opening with a five-under par, 67, Greg Sonnier caught fire with a final round, 64, that included nine birdies. Greg Sonnier, 67-64=131 (-13), claimed the victory over Kyle Ramey, 68-68=136 (-8), by five shots. With the win, Sonnier will earn an exemption into the 2019 PGA TOUR Sanderson Farms Championship. Finishing in third was Emlyn Aubrey, 67-72=139 (-5).
Emlyn Aubrey claimed the Senior Division by one shot over Reg Adams, of Shreveport, La., who fired rounds of 68-72=140 (-4). Blaine Patin, of Baton Rouge, La., finished third in the Senior Division with scores of 74-72=146 (+2).
